Maintenance

Granite Tile Flooring has become increasingly popular because of its low-maintenance durability. Keep your granite countertops and floors clean on a daily basis by wiping them with a soft cloth or mop and soap and water. When you want to make them sparkle, gently polish them with a chamois or a natural, handmade solution. To prevent hard water spots from accumulating on the granite, use distilled water during the cleaning process whenever possible. Properly caring for your granite will keep it in the best possible condition.

Granite and marble are natural stone products that are used for flooring materials because of their durability, appearance and stain resistance. Both types of flooring require basic installation and regular maintenance for upkeep.

    Granite

    • Granite is a fine- to coarse-grained rock that was formed as a result of volcanic or metamorphic geologic activity. Granite gets its durability from the quartz that is present, which gives it a hard quality.

    Marble

    • Marble is created from recrystallized limestone that has been exposed to high temperatures as well as pressures inside the earth. It is a durable material that is used for flooring. The two kinds of marble used for flooring are tiles and white and black slabs.

    Installation

    • The installation of marble flooring is similar to the installation of ceramic tiles, as you have to determine the layout of the tiles for proper fit and apply adhesive to keep them in place. Concrete, instead of grout (as used for ceramic tile installation), is used to fill gaps between the tiles. Granite tile installation is also similar to ceramic tile installation with the layout of tiles, but grout is used and not concrete.
